Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC) and “Johnnie” Johnson Housing Trust identified Cliffe Bank in Rotherham for redevelopment as part of the Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder in South Yorkshire.
The site was previously occupied by 40 older person’s bungalows, RMBC took the decision to develop the site to provide a range of new and affordable homes that would meet the housing needs of families, the elderly, people with disabilities and first time buyers.
With funding provided by the Homes & Community Agency and the site provided by RMBC, the new scheme was completed in October 2011 and comprises of 11 houses for shared ownership, 8 houses for rent , 4 bungalows for the over 55s to rent and also 3 wheelchair adapted bungalows for rent.
In honour of late Councillor Michael Eagleton who served on the former Swinton UDC and RMBC from 1978 to 2000, the newest street on the scheme, Cliffe Bank was named ‘Eagleton Gardens’.
