Work on Barnsley's largest-ever rural affordable housing has been completed and local people are already benefiting from the £3.6m initiative designed to ensure they can remain in the area.
Poole Dick Associates, in partnership with
Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and the
Homes and Communities Agency, recently completed work on 34 houses and bungalows in the village of Millhouse Green.
All the homes, which are in Royd Avenue, were offered for affordable rent and aimed exclusively at people living in the borough with rents starting as little as £68 per week, this meant all two, three and four bedroom homes were let within weeks of completion.
The total cost of the development was £3.6m, which included funding of £2.2m from the Homes and Communities Agency.
