Martyn Tickle

Martyn’s professional journey began when he joined Poole Dick in 2010 as a trainee QS; he is currently studying for his Assessment of Professional Competence through the RICS. Studied quantity surveying at the University of Salford and gained a first-class honours degree in 2015.

Since 2010 Martyn has gained considerable experience on projects ranging from £10k to £20m, including store modernisation projects for Lidl and post-contract employer’s agent and QS work on Barnes Hall of Residence at Keel University.

A diligent, organised individual with a talent for team leadership, he enjoys helping his colleagues and hopes to become an APC doctor. Has clearly benefited from (and contributes to) the distinctive Poole Dick culture.

As a child Martyn dreamed of being an astronaut, but he couldn’t get used to the clothes. Option 2 was to be a policeman but in the end the lure of quantity surveying became irresistible.

An evening person with a soft side (rom coms and candlelit dinners with his fiancé), he’s also a competitive soul – Martyn is a motocross champion, supports Manchester United FC and cites Eric Cantona and Floyd Mayweather amongst his sporting idols. Boxing and weight training are passions.

Interestingly, he claims to be fearless and is happy to do anything from karaoke to scaling his favourite building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai – although we suspect that’s in a lift rather than any Mission Impossible climbing stunt.
