Community Gateways project at Dovedale Avenue is Preston’s first independent living scheme.
The Outcome
The scheme consists of 60 apartments, all with private outdoor space, a bistro, hairdressers, treatment/consultation and activity rooms.
Once completed the facilities, including the communal gardens, opened to the general public to encourage engagement with the wider community and neighbouring residents.
Results
The first of its kind in Preston and one of very few in Lancashire, the new independent living scheme provides 24 hour support to residents with a range of support needs. At the time, the below comments were made:
