Poole Dick Director Steve Lowndes was first approached by Lidl in the Autumn of 2015 to assist them with their expansion plans in the UK.
Following a competitive procurement exercise, Poole Dick were appointed on a 4-year framework to provide Project Management, Employer’s Agent and Cost Consultancy services on a wide range of new build and extension/modernisation projects. Since then, we have worked on more than 180 projects for Lidl’s Birmingham, Lutterworth, Runcorn and Manchester offices, from Blackpool to Clacton and Llandudno to Felixstowe. Our latest assignment in Leek , Staffs included an extensive refurbishment of a previous branded store.
Key tasks have included the management of design and survey teams to develop the planning proposals from which robust and comprehensive tender packs can be prepared. For extension and refurbishment works liaison with the store managers was of utmost importance as several stores continued to trade during the works – health & safety and customer experience remained of critical importance.
Other contributions include the procurement of 15 consultant and survey frameworks, due diligence on potential sites, forensic management of time-intensive tasks like demolition projects, s278 works, car park extensions, electrical upgrades and services diversions – all made possible by the appointment of senior staff members and close liaison between our regional offices, client representatives and service partners.
Poole Dick have played an important role in helping Lidl expand to over 700 stores in the UK, which together employ more than 10,000 people.
